Now after having covered Calvinism and Arminianism another false teaching out there is called: Lordship Salvation. It too is an enemy to soul-winning for it garbles the gospel as well. Calvinism says Christ only died for some. Arminianism says you can lose your salvation. Lordship salvation, well it purports that simply believing in Jesus is not enough to be saved despite the fact that the Bible says it is. Romans 1:16, John 3:16. John 6:35, 1 Timothy 1:16, John 11:40, Acts 16:31, Romans 4:24, etc … etc.
Lordship salvation teachers are wicked and utterly blasphemous. They will add anything to faith in Jesus. Repentance, surrender, good works as proof one is saved, etc.
“You can’t live like the devil” they say.
“You’ll know true believers by their fruits,”
“There’s no such thing as a carnal Christian”
“Good works have to be there.”
“You must repent of sins.”
“They don’t know what grace is.”
“You’re an antinomian.”
I’ve heard it all and it is all garbage! Look at the following verses and see how each of them refutes Lordship Salvation.
Romans 4:5.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
The one who is trying to make Christ the Lord over his/her life is not the one who is being saved here. Rather it is the one who is not working or doing anything at all but is simply believing in Jesus who is saved/justified.
Romans 3:28.
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
The one who is adding something to faith is not the one being justified here. Lordship salvation saves no one and is a pathway to hell.
Galatians 2:20.
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Lordship proponents are frustrating grace and doing so in such a manner that makes Christ of none effect. See also Galatians 5:2-4.
Galatians 3:12.
And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Faith and law/obedience do not mix contrary to what Lordship teaches.
Luke 7:50.
And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
The person who is saved according to this verse is the one who has faith alone in Christ alone; not the one repenting of sins and or doing any kind of (Lordship type) works.
Acts 16:31.
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Believe; not do the good works or surrender or repent of sins or anything else. This verse totally refutes the heresy of Lordship salvation. Lordship salvation is basically saying that Christ dying on the cross was not enough and that you have to work with Christ and thus save yourself. It is pure damnable heresy and needs to be rejected if one wishes to win souls. You can’t win a soul to Christ with a false gospel and that is exactly what Lordship salvation is a false gospel--which saves NO ONE.
Galatians 1:6-8.
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Notice in verse 6 the real gospel is being described. It is the gospel of grace. We are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Plus nothing. Minus nothing. This is not what is being taught behind the deceitful pulpits of Lordship Salvationists.
They will claim that a wicked sinner was never really saved to begin with if there isn’t evidence of repentance or fruit in their life.
They claim that their faith was specious and nothing more than an “Easy-Believism” or “intellectual assent.” They hate people and want their souls to be damned and are more concerned about how much fruit they bear versus their eternal salvation.
Lordship salvation is wicked as hell and needs to be outright rejected when someone is endeavoring to share the gospel with someone. The main problem with Lordship Salvation is it produces: legalism, pride, self-righteousness and hypocrisy. Matthew 23:3-4.
And NO real salvation! Romans 4:13-14.
Real salvation is found only in Jesus Christ. John 14:6. Acts 4:12. And only through faith alone in what He did for us when he died, was buried and rose again for our sins. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 1 Thessalonians 4:14. Romans 3:25. John 6:47.)
